Dr Tony Gray has decided to step down from his role

After a long and very successful career as Head of Teignmouth Community School, and latterly managing the Multi Academy Trust (MAT) expansion plans as CEO of Teignmouth Learning Trust, Dr Tony Gray has decided to step down from his role.

The new Principal of Exeter Road, James O’Connell, takes up his post permanently from the beginning of next term. James has already been spending some time at school, and Dr Gray has been of great support in aiding James in understanding the opportunities and challenges of his new leadership.

Further, I am pleased to announce that Katy Quinn, currently Principal at Mill Lane, has agreed to take on the role of Acting CEO, overseeing the imminent and exciting MAT expansion with Kenn, Kenton and Cockwood schools. Katy has previously been deeply involved in aiding Dr Gray in bringing this to fruition, and is well equipped to bring what has been a lengthy process to its hugely beneficial conclusion. The process to formally recruit a permanent replacement of Dr Gray as CEO will be completed by the end of the summer term.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and the wider community I would like to take this opportunity to give our sincerest thanks to Tony Gray for his years of commitment and dedication to the school and to the Trust. I am sure these thanks will also be shared by all the students at both schools who, over the years and today, have benefitted, and learned their way in the world, from the immense contribution that Tony has made to their lives.

Philippa Kerr,

Chair of Directors on behalf of the Board of the Teignmouth Learning Trust
