Year 4/5, along with Mr Correy’s class, have recently returned from their week-long residential trip to Grenville House in Brixham. The class took part in a wide range of activities including canoeing, caving, raft building, high ropes, indoor climbing, abseiling, orienteering and problem solving. The children got the chance to try all of these things and had a great time doing so, overcoming their fears in the process.
In the evening, the children did some diary writing, watched a film and had a quiz night which was run by the Quiz master, Mr Correy!
We all had a brilliant time, including Miss Goodwin who managed to jump and catch the trapeze bar on the high ropes and Miss Mac who jumped into the sea when canoeing
In Year 4/5, we have been doing lots of exciting things that we would like to share with you:
In Literacy and Language, we have been learning all about a story from another culture called ‘Dragon Slayer’. We wrote a new adventure for Mai-Ling, the heroine of our story, and worked in groups to re-enact this in a drama session.
In our Pokémon topic, the Year 4s made their own original Pokémon character with Miss Goodwin using junk modelling. Year 5s were out at their swimming lessons at Cofton during this time so they had a really fun time too and made lots of progress in their swimming skills.
We celebrated Burn’s Day and had a ceilidh (a Scottish celebration with traditional music and dancing). It was quite tiring as there was lots of spinning involved. Luckily, Miss Mac didn’t make us try haggis again!
